MORRIS FULLER BENTON
multi-page document
During the Industrial Revolution, rapid invention in machinery provided the opportunity for type foundries to create and price multiple types without any guidelines. In turn, this caused the type industry to loose consistency and quality. Morris Fuller Benton joined the American Type Foundry which became the corporation that set type standards and a pricing structure for all remaining foundries to follow. During this time, he became the most prolific typographer in American history. This book provides the story of his career from beginning to end. The multi-column grid system shows understanding of type hierarchy, pacing through a multi-page document and unique imagery created with the typefaces produced by Benton throughout his successful career.
